REDCLIFFE KITE FEST

Families will get swept away in the fun, colour and excitement of the annual Redcliffe KiteFest where kites of all shapes and sizes fill the sky. 2017 will be the biggest KiteFest yet with a huge contingent of international and domestic kite flyers set to come together in Pelican Park. Redcliffe KiteFest 2017 is the Ultimate Kids Weekend. The whole family will love the markets, huge array of love music and amazing roving performers.

THE FLIPSIDE CIRCUS CABARET SHOW
Now thru to Saturday August 26 at 7pm // Flipside Circus Training Centre, 117 Mina Pde, Alderley

Queensland’s largest youth circus is getting ready to dazzle Brisbane audiences with their new show, The Flipside Circus Cabaret Show. The show promises a wide array of acts including trapeze, clowning, cabaret, contortion and more. The Flipside Circus Performance Troupe range in ages from 11 to 17 and come from across Brisbane’s Northside. Flipside Circus is committed to nurturing and developing Australia’s next generation of circus performers. Participants work with a regular team of trainers as well as international and local guest artists. The Flipside Circus Cabaret Show is suitable for the whole family, so come and see some of Queensland’s extraordinary young circus artists take to the stage in what promises to be a show that delights the senses.

CODE CLUB FOR KIDS
Friday August 25 from 4pm – 5pm // Chermside Library, 375 Hamilton Rd, Chermside

Learn how to make computer games, animations and websites by joining this six week program which focuses on fun, creativity and learning through exploring. Children will build on their coding skills by tackling a new project each week. This is a free event, ideal for children aged 9-12 years. Bookings essential.

BRISBANE ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY // PUBLIC VIEWING NIGHT
Saturday August 26 from 5.30pm – 10pm // Mt Coot-Tha Lookout, Sir Samuel Griffith Dr, Mt Coot-Tha

Have your first taste of astronomy by looking through a telescope to view the night sky. Come up to Mt Coot-Tha Lookout for telescope viewing one Saturday evening each month. Club members will show you the spectacular mountain ranges and craters on the Moon, star clusters, planets and other objects. Afterwards, enjoy the wonderful view of Brisbane and relax with light refreshments at the café. There is no charge or cost to take a look through the telescopes, however a donation is always welcome.

BRIDGE TO BRISBANE DAY

Tastes like Sunshine is a dream for creative kids – drawing on the walls anyone? Drawing in chocolate on those walls? To make sure our youngest audiences get the most out of the MoB’s new exhibition series, MoB Kids is presenting Sunshine Sundays. Every Sunday the family-friendly workshops kicks-off with a tour of the exhibition and are then followed by hands-on arts and craft activities. Arts activities include creating patterns and prints with food, building your own seed and clay mandala, fruity bunting and fruit collage. Suitable for ages 5 – 10 years. This is a free event.
