Brisbaneâ€™s South Bank Piazza, Katie Noonan, Kate Ceberano and Eurovision star Isaiah will lead a moving, mass rendition of John Farnhamâ€™s powerful anthem â€˜Youâ€™re The Voiceâ€™ as part of a very special Queensland Music Festival (QMF) mass choral initiative inviting voices from across Australia to sing out against domestic violence via livestream at 5pm. The Youâ€™re The Voice concert will be broadcast via a special livestream from Queensland Music Festivalâ€™s Facebook page and website.

Australian triple Olympian (Beijing, London, Rio), San Antonio Spurs NBA Championship player and now author Patty Mills will appear in Brisbaneâ€™s Queen St Mall as part of his National Tour to launch his fun â€˜Game Dayâ€™ book series for kids. Mills will speak about the books, meet fans and sign copies. Published by Allen & Unwin, the books, entitled Patty Hits the Court and Patty and the Shadows, were written in collaboration with Australian writer Jared Thomas. They help to inspire 6 to 9 year olds to achieve their goals through sport and are based on a young sports-mad Pattyâ€™s skills, practice and basketball dreams. QBD Books will be in attendance, with copies of Patty’s new books.

SALVAGE // RECYCLING ART EXHIBITION

Be inspired by local contemporary art created from second-hand shop treasures and reused everyday materials on display at Salvage, Brisbane City Council’s Recycling Art Exhibition. The exhibition explores the creative potential of reusing and recycling household items and furniture, with an aim to inspire people to see the possibility in things that may have been thrown away. Artists found their materials in Council’s tip shops and other second-hand stores.

EXHIBITION // MARVEL: CREATING THE CINEMATIC UNIVERSE

Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe will open exclusively at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) from 27 May until 3 September 2017. This will be the first major Marvel exhibition in Australia and the largest ever presented in an art museum worldwide! It features more than 500 objects including 60 plus original costumes (worn by actors including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Tilda Swinton), comic books, props, spectacular set design, concept and keyframe art, clips and bespoke hands-on interactives. Legendary Marvel characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow and Hulk are profiled, as well as the Avengers, Ant-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy. The exhibition will encompass GOMAâ€™s entire ground floor and cinema spaces.

Families can count on a fun day out with the opening of the new Mathamazing exhibition at Queensland Museumâ€™s Sciencentre. Playfully connecting maths to everyday life, the 22 interactive activities â€” designed to inspire mathematical curiosity and confidence â€” add up to a whole lot of fun. Visitors will be able to challenge their lateral thinking and topology as they untangle themselves from handcuffs in the Manacle, solve giant floor puzzles, work their way through mazes, test their reaction time, work out the mass of an unknown object, build an arch that wonâ€™t collapse, and explore fractals on a touchscreen.
