EXHIBITION // MARVEL: CREATING THE CINEMATIC UNIVERSE

Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe will open exclusively at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) from 27 May until 3 September 2017. This will be the first major Marvel exhibition in Australia and the largest ever presented in an art museum worldwide! It features more than 500 objects including 60 plus original costumes (worn by actors including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Tilda Swinton), comic books, props, spectacular set design, concept and keyframe art, clips and bespoke hands-on interactives. Legendary Marvel characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow and Hulk are profiled, as well as the Avengers, Ant-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy. The exhibition will encompass GOMAâs entire ground floor and cinema spaces.

Families can count on a fun day out with the opening of the new Mathamazing exhibition at Queensland Museumâs Sciencentre. Playfully connecting maths to everyday life, the 22 interactive activities â designed to inspire mathematical curiosity and confidence â add up to a whole lot of fun. Visitors will be able to challenge their lateral thinking and topology as they untangle themselves from handcuffs in the Manacle, solve giant floor puzzles, work their way through mazes, test their reaction time, work out the mass of an unknown object, build an arch that wonât collapse, and explore fractals on a touchscreen.

Kate Beynon draws on multiple visual traditions as the foundation for her artworks, including Western and Eastern comic books, mythology, animation, film, graffiti, calligraphy and fashion. In âFriendly Beastsâ, Kate Beynon brings to life four hybrid figures who are inspired by mythological figures, deities, theatrical masks and supernatural creatures. Young visitors will meet these benevolent friends â Blue Shaman, Lotus Monkey, Tu-Dao Dog and Gorgon Girl â who each have their own traits and personalities and aim to promote imagination, creative expression and fun.
