The Green Heart Fair is Brisbane’s biggest FREE bi-annual community and sustainability festival, promoting innovative green living in a fun, family-friendly environment for all residents to come and enjoy. BRISSTYLE CREATIVE WORKSHOP // RUNAWAY BAG WORKSHOP

BrisStyle and Martina Latimer are teaming up to bring you this Runaway Bag Workshop! You don’t need a sewing machine to sew! This hand sewing workshop is perfect for you if you love the idea of sewing your own things but don’t feel quite ready to invest in a sewing machine. During this sewcial workshop Martina will show you how to read the pattern, teach you basic hand sewing stitches and guide you through the project. You will get a piece of cloth to practice a running stitch, back stitch and a ladder stitch before you move on to sew the Runaway Bag. Martina will provide all tools needed. You will receive the original pattern and she will bring a gorgeous fabric collection of leading contemporary fabric designers such as Cotton + Steel or Carolyn Friedlander.

KIDS EXHIBITION // KATE BEYNON: FRIENDLY BEASTS

Kate Beynon draws on multiple visual traditions as the foundation for her artworks, including Western and Eastern comic books, mythology, animation, film, graffiti, calligraphy and fashion. In ‘Friendly Beasts’, Kate Beynon brings to life four hybrid figures who are inspired by mythological figures, deities, theatrical masks and supernatural creatures. Young visitors will meet these benevolent friends – Blue Shaman, Lotus Monkey, Tu-Dao Dog and Gorgon Girl – who each have their own traits and personalities and aim to promote imagination, creative expression and fun.
