Imagine that you are the star of your own musical band! Discover how different sounds are made by making stringed instruments, shakers and drums out of recycled materials. Our Little ArtLab stars can then explore role-playing their instruments on the big stage. Parents, please bring along sun safe hat, paint smock or messy clothes (for both of you).

Presented by HOTA, Home of the Arts, this program supports Musical Fairy Tales, a production by HOTA and Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

MUSICAL FAIRYTALES
Friday May 4 at 6.30pm // HOTA, 135 Bundall Rd, Surfers Paradise

This concert features four fairytale-inspired pieces to rouse the imagination including Tchaikovsky’s elegant, lush ballet Sleeping Beauty, Strauss’ waltz Fairytales from the Orient, Prokofiev’s irresistible Cinderella, and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade (which is a must for fans of Aladdin and The Arabian Nights).

Circus Rio is themed around Rio de Janeiro’s famous Carnival with authentic costumes, music and performances such as samba and capoeira dancing, each with their own twist. These tours take place on campus focusing on the College’s ethos and curriculum. During the event you will hear from the College’s founding Principal, Dr Mark Sly and Head of Primary, Mr Graeme Kirkpatrick. Current student leaders will conduct tours around the campus and escort you through the grounds pointing out specific areas and facilities. At the conclusion of the tour you will be invited to a morning tea and have the opportunity to meet and greet with key College personnel.

Join St Hilda’s School and travel down the yellow brick road in the much-loved musical, “The Wizard of Oz”. The musical faithfully recreates the classic 1939 movie on the stage, with all your favourite characters, Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion, and the iconic musical numbers, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and “We’re Off To See The Wizard”.
