Roll Out the Red Carpet

Film buffs and movie lovers are set to converge on the Gold Coast for the fourth annual Sanctuary Cove Film Festival, and we’ve got all of the details.

Despite its tender years, the Festival has already cemented its position as an industry mainstay, having received over 150 submissions from 14 countries. This weekend, the boutique three-day event will showcase the 38 films on its shortlist – more than ever before.

Johan Hasser, director of marketing and events at Sanctuary Cove, says the precinct is thrilled to yet again host one of the Gold Coast’s favourite film festivals.

“We are proud to support such a welcomed local event that not only unites and recognises the International film industry but brings together the local community in a united love for the magic of film,” says Mr Hasser. “We invite Gold Coast locals and visitors to the area to venture to the idyllic setting that is Sanctuary Cove to experience the festival for themselves and enjoy all that is on offer.”

On the agenda this year, the Gold Coast’s biggest outdoor film festival will return, with the Open Air Cinema showcasing highly anticipated Australian premieres. Families and film fans can grab their picnic blanket and popcorn and secure a spot on the grass for a night under the stars, with 14 thought-provoking short films set to be shown on the big outdoor screen.

Avid movie-goers can also catch one-off screenings at The Village Theatre, including ‘The Island of Doctor Moron’ and exclusive screenings of the festival’s Documentary and Australian Feature Film Award winners.

Rub shoulders with industry VIP’s on the red carpet, with a number of after-dark soirees also on the schedule – some of the industry’s biggest stars will come out to play, including the cast and crew of ‘Dead Squad: Temple of the Undead’.

Sanctuary Film Festival founder and director Mike Goldman says the festival is a celebration of film and aims to unite writers and directors, actors and crew along with audiences to inspire and instigate the creation of more movies.

“The festival brings together the film industry and the film enthusiast for a true celebration of the magic of film,” says Mike Goldman, Sanctuary Film Festival founder and director. “This years’ event is proud to showcase a record number of films with something for everyone in a program brimming with free and ticketed events along with VIP packages for those wanting the special treatment with reserved seating and food and beverage packages.”

While you’re here for the festival, be sure to immerse yourself in all that The Marine Village has to offer – a host of acclaimed restaurants and bars are within walking distance of the venues, and the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort offers a tranquil escape just minutes away.

It’s all happening Saturday December 1 to Monday December 3, and tickets are on sale now – head to www.sanctuaryfilmfestival.com for all of the information.
