The Mother’s Day Classic is Back

Australia’s biggest Mother’s Day event is here on the Gold Coast again this Sunday.

The Mother’s Day Classic has run for 21 years and raised more than $33 million for cancer research and is back again; set to be bigger and better than ever before.

The fun run walk that has become synonymous with Mother’s Day with more than 100,000 participants set to gather on Sunday to remember and support loved ones affected by cancer.

Mother’s Day Classic Foundation CEO Sharon Morris says the best thing about the event is the balance between sombre remembrance and family fun.

“It is a powerful day for families and friends to support breast cancer survivors and those who have lost loved ones to the disease,” Sharon says. “Mother’s Day Classic is not about breaking speed records. Our focus is on participation, whether you walk, run or volunteer.

“Many people have fun dressing up: you’ll see everything from pink pirates to teams in tutus.”

As the major fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the MDC has contributed more than $33.2 million to breast cancer research.

“Australia has some of the best medical researchers in the world. Thanks to the work of researchers and the National Breast Cancer Foundation, we’re in a much stronger position than we were when Mother’s Day Classic first started,”

With the event set to be larger than ever before, it’s not too late to register for The Mother’s Day Classic for this Sunday and join in on the fun, while also playing your part in finding the cure for breast cancer.

The Mother’s Day Classic will be held in 92 locations from capital cities to remote towns, all around Australia including the Gold Coast.
