If you’re anything like us here at haven, the news that Disney On Ice will once again be returning to Brisbane – this time, to celebrate 90 years of the one and only Mickey Mouse – probably sent your house into a tailspin.

It turns out, us die-hard Disney fans are not alone. Due to high demand, ‘Disney On Ice celebrates Mickey and Friends’ has added an additional Brisbane show to its June visit, with the new performance scheduled for 2.30pm on Friday June 28 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre! That means more Brissie families will have the opportunity to experience the Disney magic through the spectacular ice show, that stars all of the Disney characters you know and love.

Mickey Mouse is joined by Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy on a journey to discover his favourite memory of all time. Using Mickey’s “Mouse Pad”, show hosts encourage fans to be part of the action and help the gang venture though Disney stories, sharing memorable moments from treasured tales. Sail away with Moana as she displays courage to save her island on a high-seas adventure – the very first time Moana has appeared on the ice in Australia! – and adventure through the wintry world of Arendelle as royal sisters Anna and Elsa discover true love is the most powerful magic of all and experience the mysterious magic of Fantasia as a Sorcerer’s Apprentice makes brooms come to life. “Live Your Story” alongside Disney Princesses as they use perseverance, determination and hard work to inspire Mickey and children around the world to share their favourite Disney memories.

Tom Williams, Disney Dad and Australian media personality is the official Disney On Ice Ambassador for 2019 – making history as the first Dad to take on the role in Australia. haven sat down with him to discuss the upcoming production, and what being the first Aussie dad to fill the roll means to him.

Q: You are the first Aussie dad to be selected as a Disney On Ice Ambassador – congratulations! What are you most looking forward to about your new role?
I’m looking forward to encouraging other dads, brothers and grandads to come along with the kids in their lives and have fun at the shows. It’s honestly a show for all ages – you’re never too young or old to enjoy the magic of Disney On Ice!

Q: Why don’t you think any Aussie dads have been chosen until now? How does it feel to be the first?
I feel very honoured to be the first. Shelley Craft did such a great job as Disney On Ice Ambassador for so many years – maybe that’s why it took this long for me to get the call up!

Q: Can you remember the first Disney movie you ever watched? How old were you, and what impact did it have on you growing up?
I think the first Disney animated film I saw was Fantasia when I would have been around 7 or 8 years old. The music from that film, like many Disney films, is just so memorable.

Q: What is your favourite Disney movie, and why?
My favourite Disney animated film is Moana, because I love the ocean (I am a keen surfer!) and the pairing of Moana and Maui, they’re a great team.

Q: Who is your favourite Disney On Ice character, and why?
Elsa and Anna from Frozen because I know my two little girls are going to get such a thrill from seeing them.

Q: Who is the biggest Disney fan in your house?
Definitely little Storm (5) and Sloane (3). They love to dress up as characters from Frozen.

Q: What are you most looking forward to about seeing Disney On Ice return to Australia?
I’m looking forward to seeing lots of Dads embracing their inner Disney and joining their families in the fun this year.

Q: What should audiences most look forward to about the production?
The spectacular performers and iconic songs that will have everyone singing along! Plus, this is the first time Moana has been in Disney On Ice!
