The Broadwater Parklands will host 36 movie events this March, with the full program for the American Express Openair Cinemas having kicked off just yesterday, Thursday March 14.
Set on the water’s edge in Southport, the program will run until April 14 and bring plenty of movies – and more – to the Gold Coast for families and friends to enjoy. Food, fun and flicks are all on the menu throughout the next month, with American Express card members receiving a range of exclusive benefits, too.
The festival vibes will be in full swing with an array of alternative entertainment running alongside the fan-favourite and blockbuster flicks, including live music and DJ performances before the movies light up the big screen. Film fanatics and doggy owners are invited to bring their furry friends to any screening, too, being mindful of films with expected gunfire and explosions.
The movie program itself boasts a mix of highly-anticipated new releases and box office hits, including Aquaman, Glass and Bohemian Rhapsody. Oscar-winning movies are also set to screen at the Broadwater Parklands, with A Star is Born, Green Book and The Favourite sure to draw crowds.
Families needn’t fret, as there is plenty on offer for movie-goers large and small. With How to Train Your Dragon, The Hidden World and A Dog’s Way Home just a few of the kid-friendly flicks on the program, you won’t run out of fun family activities over the next month or so.
Brand new releases are also set to screen at the Openair Cinemas, with the latest Marvel epic Marvel Universe: Captain Marvel showing on April 11 and 14.
Purveyors of fine food and authentic Italian cuisine will be delighted to hear that crowd favourite Salt Meats Cheese are returning to the Openair Cinemas to cook up a storm, with Stefano De Blasi and Edoardo Perlo curiating the daily menu of irrestible dishes all season long. Antipasti and wood-fired pizzas make for the fanciest movie snacks! Sweet tooths, don’t fret – you’ll be able to take your pick of a selection of Haagen Dazs ice cream flavours, too.
The refreshments will be covered by national partners 4 Pines Craft Beer, PIMMS, Giesen Wines and Black Devil Cider, while Champagne Dupperrey will serve up the bubbles on ice to anyone hoping to add a little fizz to their movie night.
American Express members will be treated to some extra-special treatment, with the full VIP cinema experience available when they purchase a ticket to the American Express Lounge. Card members can get comfortable with their own bean bag, a cushion and complimentary blanket hire as well as some tasty treats, while also enjoying 15% off selected tickets and access to the American Express Garden to enjoy sunset drinks.
If you’re not an American Express member, you can still chillax to the max with a variety of seating options available and add a touch of comfort to a night under the stars with a blanket or lounger, which can be hired as part of any ticket package. Premium tickets to the Prime Video Lounge include reserved seating on a comfy bean bag, service straight to you and a glass of wine.
Tickets start from just $17 for general admission, and are on sale now!
