CLANCESTRY – A CELEBRATION OF COUNTRY

Clancestry, a Celebration of Country is an annual week-long festival celebrating the arts and cultural practices of the world’s First Nations Peoples, with a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. The festival draws on rich spiritual culture and provides a space to learn about, and connect with, clan groups across the country and the globe. In presenting performances, workshops, free events and conversations, the festival celebrates a diverse and stimulating mix of the traditional and contemporary.

APT8 KIDS

Over two days, 21 + 22 November, the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art will be transformed by a full program of over 40 performances, talks, tours and special events marking the start of APT8. The Opening Weekend also marks the first weekend of the ongoing APT8 Live program. Expanding on the focus of performance, APT8 Live will see local and national artists converge on the Gallery at key dates during the exhibition period for live performances, talks and more.

CLANCESTRY – COMMUNITY DAY

Enjoy a day of free family entertainment at this special cultural program curated by Nancy Bamaga and Fred Leone. With performances throughout the day from choirs, dance groups, musicians and poets, this program brings together artists from communities across Queensland, the Torres Strait Islands. The Melbourne Street Green stage will also come to life with readings, poetry performances by Inala Dance Academy, Guruman Dancers, Garret Lyon, Getano Bann, and soloists featuring performers from Diji Youth Arts (DYA).

CITY HALL LIGHT SPECTACULAR

This will be The City’s most colourful and spectacular Christmas projection yet, and one for all ages to enjoy. A must-do for everyone’s Christmas calendar, the Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular will run every 15 minutes from 7.30pm until midnight, starting on Friday 11 December and running through until Christmas Eve. City Hall’s clock tower will sound nightly to signal the start of each show.
