Pattern Bandits is a fantastic immersive exhibition that explores the relationships between people, pattern and architecture, by artist Jemima Wyman. Via a host of specially designed multi-media and activities, children can get to explore and work with the kaleidoscopes, tessellations, camouflage and harlequin patterns that are part of the brightly coloured world of the Los Angeles-based Australian artist.

Hallowe’en Express

The spooktacular Hallowe’en Express departs Roma St for the first time this All Hallow’s Eve with a load of spooky passengers on board. For young ones too little to go trick or treating, this magical train ride is the ultimate way to celebrate Hallowe’en and for others it’s a novel way to mark the occasion. Passengers are encouraged to dress up to the max in creepy costumes for the haunting 60 minute journey in vintage carriages, drawn by the beautiful green locomotive engine, which will travel through Brisbane’s tunnels and whistles along tracks under the cloak of darkness. And with a departure time of 6.40, it will ensure that the youngest of passengers will be home and tucked up in bed before the Great Pumpkin rises from the pumpkin patch. Prices start at $16 for children over 15 (under 15’s are free).
