If you are or know a high school songbird destined for super-stardom, this will be music to your ears – Opera Australia is offering Gold Coast vocalists the chance of a lifetime.

The Regional Student Scholarship is designed with senior secondary students in mind, offering the four most promising singers a chance to spend a week with Opera Australia in Sydney during the 2018 January school holidays, with all expenses paid.

The Arts Centre Gold Coast will present ten students to be considered for the scholarship. Each student will also receive invaluable feedback on their audition from the Opera Australia Chorus Master – a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The 2018 prize includes music, acting and movement workshops with industry leaders and vocal coaching with Opera Australia’s experienced coaches and repetiteurs.

Winners will stay in serviced apartments for five nights, with a meal allowance each night. They will also receive tickets to see an Opera Australia performance at the iconic Sydney Opera House, and will also be given the exclusive opportunity to see where the magic happens with a behind the scenes tour of the Opera House and the Opera Centre Sydney.

And as if that isn’t enough, at the end of the week’s scholarship the lucky four students will have the chance to perform an aria for Lyndon Terracini, artistic director for Opera Australia, actor and former director of the Queensland Music Festival and Brisbane Festival.

Auditions are free and will be held in The Basement of The Arts Centre Gold Coast on July 17-18 2017 from 8pm-9:30pm. Apply through the Opera Australia website before Monday June 26.
