Christmas is in the air at South Bank- Intricately displayed lights weave through the iconic arbour, festoons hang throughout and River Quay’s celebrated fig tree shines bright. The precinct is awash with tones of red and white and the atmosphere is buzzing with merriment.
Attendees can expect an abundance of premium entertainment from Friday 20 to Monday 23 December throughout the Parkland this festive season- recreating the nostalgic feeling of Christmas; best enjoyed with family and loved ones.
The South Bank Piazza will be home to the Carols Extravaganza- an exciting Christmas production featuring film, song, dance and a visit from Santa himself! From acrobatic aerialists to serene ballet compositions and show stopping vocals, this show is guaranteed to ignite excitement for the “Most Wonderful Time of the Year”.
Performances will run twice nightly at 6.45pm and 8.30pm and tickets will be sold at $5, with free entry for children 2 years and under if seated on a caregiver’s lap. Tickets are limited and will go on sale from Monday 2 December via christmasinbrisbane.com.au or 136 246.
Brush up on Christmas classics at Festive Beats, and watch emerging local artists as they serenade punters with smooth tunes and festive sing-alongs from 4pm until 10pm at Streets Beach, River Quay, Rainforest Green and Little Stanley Street Lawns.
Littlies will be mesmerised at Santa’s Stop Over, watching Santa Claus as he spreads his Christmas cheer over South Bank Parklands from his brightly lit abode. Taking place at Flowstate from 5pm until 9pm; there will also be an opportunity to get a photograph with Santa, set amongst a magnificent towering fig tree and light installation. Just across the way, storytelling and crafts will entertain children at Flowstate Lawns from 4pm until 7.30pm.
And because it’s not Christmas at South Bank without a dazzling finale – venture to the Clem Jones Promenade to enjoy the finest views of the Fireworks Spectacular, presented by eatSouthBank taking place at 8pm every night.
All activities, excluding the Carols Extravaganza are free to enjoy. South Bank entertainment will run from 4pm until 10pm daily, with all ages welcome.
