Clean up, fix up and conserve our beautiful environment, and there’s no better day to do it than on Clean Up Australia Day! It’s a day where the Australian community can come together with same intention – looking after and caring for our country.

Clean Up Australia Day falls on Sunday March 1 this year, and there are so many clean ups you can be involved in. You can either join an already-organised group in your local area or create your own with family or friends – all registration details are on their website here.

Little Paccas is even hosting a Marine Workshop, which runs from 10am until 3.50pm on Clean Up Australia Day. Ocean Life Education will bring the sea to Pacific Fair with fun interactive marine workshops for kids. Kids will be able to explore live marine animals with a mini aquarium, play games and learn artefacts as well as the impacts and sustainability of our marine ecosystem. It’s designed for children of all ages and you can book here.

Clean Up Australia Day brings Australians together to clean up thousands of pieces of rubbish on one special day, but it’s important to continue cleaning up and reducing our waste every day!

Check out these useful tips from the Clean Up Australia Day organisation to limit waste in your day-to-day life:

  • Stop buying bottled water
  • Turn your organic waste like fruit and vegetables into a garden compost
  • Buy in bulk to limit plastic packaging
  • Save paper by placing a ‘No Junk Mail’ sticker on your letterbox
  • Send old and unused electrical equipment to an Electronic Waste recycler or donate to charities
