Ever thought that it was so much easier to make friends when you were a kid? Watching a group of children at the park or school, the rules of engagement seem so simple – you say hello, you start playing and 20 minutes later you are firm ‘friends’.

But making new friends is so much harder as an adult – and even more so when you’ve been firmly in ‘mummy land’ with your toddler or preschooler and socialising is limited to Woolies, the doctor’s office and family visits.

While it can be hard to branch out of your comfort zone, sometimes it simply requires a different perspective. For the members of the Little Paccas club, what started as a children’s entertainment program has rapidly evolved into fast friendships, networking opportunities and a sense of community.

An initiative of Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Little Paccas is a free monthly kids club with events, activities and exclusive offers for members. Past events include the Peppa Pig Show, an animal petting farm and craft village. But while the kids get to play, the adults are enjoying fun of a grown-up kind – connecting with other carers, sharing stories and advice, and having real conversations (remember those?).

The launch of their 2015 Little Paccas Kids’ Club will be held on Tuesday 17 March, with a Paddington Bear Teddy Bears’ Picnic & Storytime hosted by Broadbeach Branch Library. Our Little Paccas are invited to bring their own teddy bear and picnic rug to join us for a morning of fun. Pacific Fair will provide each Little Paccas member with a free morning tea, and parents or guardians with a free coffee!
