One of our favourite ways to style a home is with handmade, unique pieces that tell a story. You will know too, that we love to support local artisans and creatives and love to hear of these beautiful beings collaborating!
This month we have found our happy place! Well two happy places actually…
Crafting circles have taken off on the coast and in Brisbane too, with just incredible collaborations occurring amongst talented people. We were lucky enough to connect with two amazing craft communities, both offering affordable, playful and inspiring workshops where you can discover a new skill or interest and create a simple but very cool project over just a few hours. Materials supplied, no previous skill required, a welcoming, comfortable environment, lots of fun and a take home creation… these two tick all the boxes.
The Craft Parlour on the Gold Coast
All our loves under one roof! A very special, sweet space that houses warmth, kindness, inspiration and creativity and a place that collaborates for craft! Here you will find a workshop to suit you and you will leave with a homeware made by you.
Fox & Flower visited this amazing studio in Miami one sunny Saturday and we made friends, fun and concrete planter pots with Bec from ‘Made by Frank’, a fabulous crafting mama with a world of knowledge to share. Bec was a joy to be with and learn from. Here’s a little snippet from our crafty conversations with her…
“Made by Frank came from a place of loving to create and keep myself busy while on maternity leave. I’ve always had a little bit of sewing in my blood as my Grandma is a seamstress. The name Frank comes from my Grandma’s surname (and mum’s maiden name) and pays homage to my sewing roots.”
Bec not only hosts workshops with Rachael at TCP, she also has an online store of amazingness that is absolutely worth a look! www.madebyfrank.bigcartel.com
Rachael, owner of The Craft Parlour, is a truly delightful young woman who oozes joy… she brings people together with ease and grace, for craft! Her passion is connecting artisans with crafters and opening up your crafting channels to sit, enjoy and create together. The Craft Parlour offers an abundance of workshops every month like macramé, concrete planters, pottery, small business inspo, sewing and more! Check out Rachael’s craft workshop calendar on TCP website and book your slice of creative, crafty goodness – www.thecraftparlour.com.au.
Crave for Crafts in Brisbane
Crave for Crafts is a beautiful collaboration of happy, sunshiny crafters who host monthly workshops of crochet, macramé and more.
The facilitator of Crave for Crafts, Ana, is dedicated to connecting like-minded people and offering an experience where her talented collaborators can inspire and teach the people who want to learn their craft.
Crave for Crafts is unique in that they don’t currently have a studio – they move around Brisbane, trying to find the perfect location for each workshop. This can vary from cafes, nurseries (last time the lovely crafters crocheted cactus at the Cottage Garden Nursery), shops, co-working spaces or even night clubs!
Ana’s passion for community and craft is deliciously authentic. Check out www.craveforcrafts.com for more.
We trust you now feel inspired to get down and crafty with the talented people in your community. Go forth and create, there’s plenty of people to play with!
