Featuring more than 90 events from Canungra to The Lost World, Beaudesert to Boonah, Scenic Rim Eat Local Week is the ultimate backstage pass to the farms, wineries and food stories of the region.

Meet the people behind the produce and the flavours, in a celebration that features festivals, farm-gate events and culinary experiences for foodies of all ages. Set against the natural beauty of the Scenic Rim, Eat Local Week is one of the most authentic food festivals in the world – and it’s all just one hours’ drive from Brisbane.

There’s plenty for families to do, too! Check out our top picks for family experiences this Eat Local Week.

  1. Get your tickets to Breakfast with the Jersey Girls at Tommerup’s Dairy Farm on Sunday June 30, for a morning which includes breakfast, a farm tour, milking demonstrations and so much more.
  2. Kids between the ages of nine and 15 can get creative and paint their own Scenic Rim inspired artwork at Play with your food for kids with Nikki Malone on Thursday July 4.
  3. Mununjali Naidoc Family Fun Day on Saturday July 6 will be a celebration of culture – grab a kangaroo sausage sizzle and taste other native treats, then enjoy the free rides, children’s activities and dance performances.
  4. Tours at Albert River Wines are not just for the grown-ups, the whole family can enjoy feeding the animals, watching the sheepdog demonstrations, and trying their hand at boomerang throwing or whip cracking!
  5. Get the kids involved in learning how their food is made by bringing them to the Children’s Cheese Making Workshop at Towri Sheep Cheeses on Wednesday July 3 which includes a cheese platter lunch and an opportunity to cuddle the lambs.
  6. Come dressed as a farmer to the Little Farmer Humpty Dumpty Day at Summer Land Camels on Wednesday July 3.
  7. Children might just eat their veggies when they get to pick the carrots themselves at the Kalfresh Carrot Field Day on Saturday June 29!
  8. Bring the family to enjoy the Canungra Food, Beer, and Music Festival on Saturday June 29.
