The long-anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey premiered last Thursday, breaking box office records and creating the biggest buzz Valentine’s Day has seen in years! Event Cinemas ignited the passion with sell-out Chicks at the Flicks screenings complete with beauty stalls, entertainment, prize giveaways and goodie bags.

Over 20,000 women across Australia flocked to the premiere screening of the erotic blockbuster, with over 150 sessions completely sold out for the Chicks at the Flicks film event on opening night. With hot demand for tickets, Fifty Shades of Grey achieved the biggest February opening day for a movie of all time, and the biggest opening day for an MA rated film in Australia.

And our love affair for this dark and shady love affair continued right across the Valentine’s weekend, with cinemas adding extra sessions to keep up with the unprecedented demand for the movie adaptation of E. L. James’ best-selling novel.
