Heading out to Metricon stadium to see the Gold Coast SUNS in action is one of our favourite weekend activities – both for the on-field excitement and the family-friendly activities off the field.

As the weather cools and we retreat inside at the first sign of sunset, there aren’t many things that make us want to ditch the UGG boots and dressing gown and head out after dark. In fact, supporting the Gold Coast SUNS might be the only thing we’re willing to brave the cold for!

Maybe it’s because the air feels so much warmer when we’re sitting in a sea of yellow and red. Maybe it’s because jumping up to cheer and scream again and again actually counts as some sort of exercise. Maybe it’s the amount of time we spend running after our excited children as they dart between the jumping castle, tabletop activities and free kicking zone.

Whatever the reason, we’re finding it hard to believe that there could be a better weekend excursion than bundling the kids up in their best red and yellow attire and heading out to Metricon for the afternoon or night. With an ample food selection – each on-site food truck is more mouth-wateringthan the one before – and plenty of bars for the grown-ups, everyone is quite literally catered for. Not to mention, on Sunday games – Sunday Fundays, as they’re known – kids attend the game totally free with any adult ticket. There’s always heaps of pre-game fun, including the SUNS Kids Zone with giant inflatables and free activities to keep them occupied right up until kick-off (and even after). That means your whole Sunday, sorted, with the Gold Coast SUNS – they’re the perfect winter warmer. Head to the website to check out the rest of the season’s games!
