Children of Logan are being inspired to imagine with a number of free and low-cost activities popping up all over the city.

The annual ImagiNation Children’s Festival returns from Saturday September 21 to Sunday October 6, bringing a jam-packed program of daily activities along with it. 

From the Colour Blast Fun Run for five to 17-year-olds to the learn-to-skateboard sessions, a craft village, a ninja obstacle course, bubble soccer, landfill tours and a workshop on how to be a junior vet, there’s truly something for everyone.

In a weather-wise more, all activities will be held either indoors or outdoors at Council venues including the city’s libraries and art gallery as well as the Logan Entertainment Centre. Bookings for festival activities are open but some popular activities are expected to book out quickly.

Program highlights include…

Ninja Obstacle Course // Underwood Park, Sunday September 22, from 9am ‘til noon.
Participants move through a ninja-inspired obstacle course by climbing, jumping, crawling, squeezing and swinging.

MZAZA concert and workshop // Logan Entertainment Centre, Monday September 23 from 12.30pm
This award-winning, multicultural six-piece band delivers an interactive concert with music from around the world. The first 25 young ticket holders will be invited to join a kids’ singing workshop from 11am.

Landfill tours – Where does my rubbish go? // Logan Recycling Market, Browns Plains, Monday September 23, from 9.30am
Children aged from five to 15 can attend a backstage tour of Council’s landfill site at Browns Plains.

BrainBuzz Live! // Logan Entertainment Centre, Tuesday September 24, from 11am
A 30-minute stage production of 9Go Kids’ popular science television show.

Under the trees at Mayes Mayes Cottage, Friday September 27, from 10.30am ‘til 1.30pm
The event includes animal sessions with Geckoes Wildlife, tree whispering with Tamsin Scott from Earth Play, making family trees and enjoying a performance by Logan artist Danni Jay showcasing the Mayes Cottage piano.

Deadly digital movie-making workshop // Sessions available at all nine libraries between Monday September 30 and Friday October 4
Participants will make a short movie use LEGO Movie Maker and the Yugambeh Museum Language App. 

Animals and birds in art: Hands on art activities for all ages // Logan Art Gallery, Tuesday October 1 to Thursday October 3, from 10am ‘til 4pm
Animal-themed art activities include mask making, scratch board art, collaged birds, animals in watercolour and puzzles and jigsaws. No bookings are required. Parents need to remain with their children.

Nerf Wars // Waller Park, Browns Plains, Sunday October 6, from 3pm ‘til 4pm for five to 11-year-olds, and 4pm ‘til 5pm for 12 to 17-years-old
Participants will play in teams armed with Nerf blasters and battle their way around a field.
