The school holidays are over, which means sleepover coordination, day trip planning and general kid entertainment are too. Hallelujah!
Now, it’s time for you. Whether you prefer a long lunch with your besties or a night out on the town, gather with your girls and enjoy some ‘you’ time to shake off the school holidays. Here are our favourite ways to do exactly that.
Dinner and a show
If you’re looking to get out of your comfort zone and experience a night like no other, the Gold Coast is the place to do it. The Pink Flamingo is the GC’s resident Spiegelclub – a purpose-built entertainment destination with an unmistakable art deco vibe. Enjoy one of their four shows with a drink in hand, but be sure not to do it on an empty stomach – if you’re keen on dinner, there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Alternatively, for a spook-tacular night out, you can’t go past Dracula’s. This Gold Coast icon has been running since 1985, getting bigger and better year after year – there’s no better place for a death-defying dinner and a show.
Not one for late night antics, preferring to drink and dine in the sunshine instead? We hear you! For the long lunch lovers, you’ll love The Tropic – Burleigh Pavilion’s sun-filled restaurant perched on the rocks of Burleigh beach. Serving up an Italian-inspired, seafood speckled menu with cocktails to boot, it’s the perfect spot to start your day before heading next door to the Burleigh Pav’s bustling bar. Seriously, there’s no spot more picturesque! If you’re looking to party on into the night, hit up nearby bars Pink Monkey or Nightjar.
Indulge in a pamper session
Sit back, relax and soak up all that your favourite day spa has to offer with your best friends – after surviving the school holidays, you’ve earned it. Soak Bathhouse in Mermaid Beach is just one of the many spots on the Gold Coast to do exactly that. Their facilities feature indoor and outdoor mineral baths, hot spas, a cold plunge pool and a steam room, and they also offer massages and LED facials – with alcohol on offer to boot! If you fall in love and want to keep the relaxation going long into the school year, they’ve got multi-packs available for you to purchase, too.
Bar hop ‘til you drop
It’s the weekend and it’s time to let your hair down, which can only mean one thing – you’re headed to Palm Beach! This booming suburb is home to one of the best, though rarely talked about, nightlife strips on the Goldy, with plenty of rooftop bars and restaurants to satiate your palate. Start at Frida Sol, the perfect place for a margarita and refreshing Mexican bite, then head downstairs to The Scottish Prince – a cool, dark dive bar specialising in whiskies of all kinds. Duck across the road to Las Palmas for a cocktail, then down the road a bit to Suga for another. Finish up your night with a bite at The Collective, and consider yourself sorted – just don’t blame us for how you feel the next morning!
Looking for something a little more low key? We love hitting up the movies with our gal pals, which is why we’re so excited to be giving 10 lucky haven readers the chance to win a double pass to see ‘This Little Love of Mine’ when it hits Event Cinemas from today, April 22!
