Clueless on the Rooftop
Friday April 17, from 6:30pm // Australia Fair

It’s been 25 years since the teen cult classic that gave us tartan skirts and knee high socks was released. As If!

It’s time to grab your bestie and celebrate like Cher and Dionne with a special screening of Clueless, set against the city lights at this pop-up rooftop cinema at Australia Fair. 

Relax into your beanbag, drink in hand, as the sun goes down and then watch the best movie of the 90’s under the stars.

Alicia Silverstone’s irresistible charm as Cher Horowitz and clever, quotable humour from writer-director Amy Heckerling made Clueless a gem for the ages – whether you’ve seen it once or a dozen times  Like, Whatever! 

General admission tickets include guaranteed beanbag seating, complimentary drink on arrival and movie screening under the stars. For the ultimate date night, get your hands on VIP couple tickets, with seats for two in brand new Mini cars.

Ticketholders to meet at the newly refurbished Hotel Pacific, Australia Fair by 6.30pm to be escorted to the secret rooftop location. 

Pre-order a cheese platter or order a meal on the night from the special menu from 5.30pm – 6.30pm. Light snacks and drinks will be available for purchase on the Rooftop.

Floating Cinema: The Hangover
Friday April 24 from 6pm // Sea World Cruises terminal, Main Beach

Wolfpack assemble! It’s time to party like it’s ’09 with the hilarious Las Vegas buddy comedy, The Hangover.

Sit back, under the stars on the top of the luxe Spirit of Elston riverboat and watch the wildest bachelor party unfold as you cruise the Broadwater.

Soak up the views of the Gold Coast skyline then settle in to watch the film, with Vegas themed cocktails from the fully-stocked on-board bar plus complimentary nachos and popcorn.

Departing from Sea World Cruises terminal at 6.30pm, come early and purchase a drink from the Sea World Cruises Sundeck Bar open from 5.30pm.

It will be a night you won’t remember. No tigers or babies allowed.

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink
Wednesday April 22 from 6pm // The Spring, QT Gold Coast

Celebrate the most meme-able movie of the 00’s, with a special screening of Mean Girls, at QT Gold Coast’s brand new poolside, The Spring. 

Enjoy a totally fetch pink cocktail on arrival and hang with your gang like you’re in the cafeteria of North Shore High School.

Sit back and relive all the savage one liners and sass of Regina, Karen, Gretchen and Cady in this iconic 2004 flick, written by Tina Fey and starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried.

Food and drink will be available for purchase from 6pm with the movie screening on high definition outdoor screen at 7.30pm. Varied seating will be available on chairs, lounges and bean bags on a first in basis.

Wear pink, obviously, or you can’t sit with us.

SIPFest: Australia’s Short Film Festival on the beach
Saturday April 18 from 5pm // Surfers Paradise beachfront

Set on the iconic Surfers Paradise beach, SIPFest is a night of entertaining new short films from around the world and live orchestral performances of some of the most loved music from the movies.

Experience the beauty of the Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra performing music from the movies live as the sun sets behind the Surfers Paradise skyline.

Settle in under the stars for 14 brand new short films from Australia and the world that will make you laugh, cry and be amazed. Vote for your favourite to win the coveted People’s Choice Award.

BYO picnic blankets and chairs for an incredible night of free movie music and short films on Surfers Paradise Beach!

  • 7pm – 9.30pm SIPFest Short Films

Hosted by Surfers Paradise Alliance in partnership with Gold Coast Film Festival, SIPFest is part of the two-day Film, Music and Dance event – a celebration of movie magic, incredible live music performances and memorable film dance routines set against the stunning Surfers Paradise backdrop.

Short films screened at SIPFEST are the finalists of Gold Coast Film Festival’s short film competition. The films are in the running for $8000 in cash prizes across seven categories, judged by a panel of industry experts, plus the People’s Choice Award, voted by the audience on the night. Burleigh Cinema: Surf Film Night
Thursday April 23, from 6pm // Burleigh Brewing Co

Self Discovery for Social Survival is a new surf film that pairs 16 surfers (including local legend Stephanie Gilmore) in the world’s most jaw-dropping surfing locations with eight experimental musicians who create an original, epic live score to the wave. Filmed in Mexico, the Maldives and Iceland in three separate vignettes, the film embarks on a journey that combines a symbiotic relationship between the music and the waves, the environment and local culture. Grab your mates and head to Burleigh Cinema at Burleigh Brewing for this fresh new surf film showcasing the hottest soundtrack around. Enjoy Burleigh world class craft beers, popcorn, live music and more under the stars on the big outdoor screen.

Gold Coast Movie Locations Tours
Sunday April 19 from 1pm and Sunday April 26 from 10am // Leaving from HOTA

Lights! Camera! Action!

This three-hour guided bus tour is action-packed with the Gold Coast film locations made famous by blockbusters such as Aquaman, Dora: The Lost City of Gold and Kong: Skull Island plus exclusive access behind the scenes.

For the first time ever, you’ll get access INSIDE Australia’s largest film water tank at Village Roadshow Studios where Aquaman, The Shallows, Unbroken and Fool’s Gold all filmed.

You’ll also get an insider tour of the Emmy-Award winning makeup-effects studio, JMB FX.

Traversing the Gold Coast, you’ll visit key filming locations, watch exclusive video interviews and your enigmatic host Murray Shoring will point out locations used in dozens of films – so have your camera ready!

Movie & Music Trivia
Tuesday April 21, from 6pm // Fixx Bar QT hotel

Do you sit on the edge of your seat to live tweet the Oscars? Can you name the James Bond actors in chronological order? Do you know every song on the A Star Is Born soundtrack? Or do you just love a good night out with friends talking all things movies and music? 

We’re on a mission to crown Gold Coast’s ultimate film and music trivia champions and want to have a lot of fun along the way. Teams of between two and six will come together for a night of cold hard facts and epic prizes presented in partnership with Gold Coast Music Awards and QT Gold Coast.

Movie and Music Trivia will be held in Fixx Bar and you can come early and order your food and drinks by the new pool area The Spring with food delivered to your table. Find tickets here.

Film, Music and Dance: Free family films and dance performances
Sunday April 19, from 3.30pm // Surfers Paradise beachfront

From Disney favourite High School Musical to high-energy Step Up to classic Singin’ in the Rain, the whole family will be entertained by the memorable dance and musical films at the beach cinema on Surfers Paradise beach.

If Zac Efron’s fancy footwork or Gene Kelly’s terrific tap-dancing inspire you, you can show off your own moves in the interactive Latin Dance Street Party in Cavill Mall.

Enjoy live dance performances from 1pm and throughout the evening, followed by…
