Strap on your safety goggles as Brainiac Live! is coming to Brisbane in January.

The show is packed with excitement, including exploding dustbins, combusting microwaves and loads of live daredevil stunts. We spoke with the lead brainiac, Brainiac Ned to get to know a little more about him and the show.

What does a usual day look like for you?
Every day is exciting and a step into the unknown. Firstly, I have to make sure Brainiac Dave is awake as he is really lazy. A bucket of water over his head usually works. We head straight to the lab for a fun-filled science day. Usually trying new experiments or stunts. The crazier the better. In fact, last week we were seeing how fast we could make a shopping trolley go using various forms of jet propulsion.

What’s a life lesson you wish you could share with your younger self?
Your mother is almost always right.

What makes you happy?
Loud bangs, science and yellow t-shirts.

Who is your hero?
Anybody who has chased their dreams, and Brainiac Ed as he can eat spaghetti with his toes.

What are you looking forward to most in 2018?
I have so much to look forward to in 2018. Firstly, we are coming to Australia. It’s one place we have never managed to visit with the show and I personally have never been. When we return to the UK we are heading straight on tour around the UK.

Are you a dog person or cat person? What are your pets’ names?
I like both cats and dogs, however at Brainiac HQ we have a cat that visits us every day. She’s not our cat but stays around the lab until some sort of experiment goes wrong then runs away. We call her ‘Super Cat’

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Ice cream made with liquid nitrogen! We also took the Brainiacs to Hong Kong last year and we ate some really weird stuff there. I don’t even want to know what it was.

What book are you reading or what book would you recommend to others?
I’m reading a book called Wonders of the Universe by Brain Cox. It’s amazing. I love space and the universe.

What’s your star sign and what traits of that sign best relate to you?
I’m an Aries. I’d say the traits that relate to me are being spontaneous, daring, active, courageous and energetic. Aries also make the best sandwiches.

What’s your favourite colour?
Has to be yellow like our Brainiac t-shirts.

Does vegemite go in the fridge or pantry at your house?
It lives in the pantry in my house. Most of the Brainiacs hate it but I love putting it on my sandwiches and on toast.

Tell us a bit about your role in Brainiac Live?
I am the Head Brainiac. I will never shy away from a daredevil stunt and will always be the first to give a new experiment a go.  I also have to make sure all the other Brainiacs are behaving.

Brainiac Live! will be showing at QPAC from January 9 – 13, 2018. Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased online.
