There’s no time like the school holidays to indulge in a spot of baking! We’ve rounded up our favourite recipes for you to try in the coming weeks.
Put a healthy twist on your childhood favourites
From Wagon Wheels to spiders, we’ve often found ourselves wishing we could indulge in the treats we did as kids. Unfortunately, we’ve since learned about the kinds of ingredients packed into the processed foods we once loved – indulging in them is just not the same anymore! Thankfully, you can bakg\e these healthified versions of your childhood faves.
Get your pumpkin spice fix with this loaf
Americans are all about the pumpkin spice latte, but here on the Gold Coast, we’d much rather this pumpkin loaf with maple buttercream by our very own Georgia Harding of Well Nourished! It’s the perfect treat for a school holiday snack or social morning tea, but we’ll take it any time of day. When you’re done, try this coconut caramel slice or these choc orange biscuits.
Let the kids take over with these no-bake recipes
Sometimes you just want to let the kids occupy themselves on the school holidays – but when they want to bake, you typically need to supervise. Eliminate their need to use the oven, though, and things become much safer. You can do all the necessary chopping ahead of time, then let them loose on the kitchen without fear of fire or injury (and enjoy the fruits of their labour when they’re done!).
