HOTA

When it comes to culture hubs on the Gold Coast, you can’t go past our literal Home of the Arts, HOTA!

  • The Alphabet 0f Awesome Science | June 10, 2022: Join professors Lexi Con and Noel Edge for a thrilling voyage through the alphabet.
  • There’s a Sea in My Bedroom | July 22 – July 23, 2022: Based on the beloved children’s book, this immersive performance captures the magic of a child’s fantasy world.
  • Making Animal-Humans with Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran | On now: Turn recycled materials into creative Animal-Humans to take home with you!

QAGoMA

From the modern art on display at GoMA to the unmissable classics in the Queensland Art Gallery, this is one spot you’ll happily spend an entire family day out.

  • ‘APT10 Kids’ | April 25 – July 10, 2022: Seven projects by artists from across the Asia Pacific region that celebrate inclusion, diversity, collaboration and community.
  • ‘Roy and Matilda’ | Permanent: Discover paintings with Roy and Matilda, two friendly mice who live behind a tiny door in the Queensland Art Gallery.
  • ‘Kids Trail’ | Permanent: Discover a wild and wonderful menagerie of animals hiding in the Australian Art Collection.

Queensland Museum and SparkLab

Giant dinosaurs, flying whales and a live ‘science bar’ are just a few of the wondrous sights and experiences you’ll discover here.

  • Disney: The Magic of Animation | June 24 – January 22, 2023: Uncover the magic behind almost 100 years of the Walt Disney Animation Studio. 
  • Minerals: Inspirational Treasures from the Earth | Permanent: A showcase of more than 230 of the rarest and most amazing minerals and gems from around Australia and the world.
  • SparkLab’s Maker Space | From July 1: Ignite your imagination in this interactive science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) space.

Museum of Brisbane

Not to be confused with the Queensland Museum on the south side of the river, the Museum of Brisbane in Brisbane City Hall offers a world of wonder and learning just waiting to be explored.

  • Teen In Situ Drawing | June 29 – July 6, 2022: MoB invites all young artists to turn their Museum into your own personal art studio.
  • World of Wonder Design Studio | June 25 – July 10, 200: Ever wanted to make your own special sparkling creation? Step into the shoes of a designer with this free pop-out activity!
  • Young Explorers and Little Gems Tours | June 25 – July 11, 2022: Explore the magic of opals, pearls and other amazing miracles of nature by diving into the World of Wonder: Margot McKinney.

The state’s home of performing arts, there’s always an amazing play or musical to catch with the kids at QPAC.

  • Carnival of the Animals | June 29 – July 2, 2022: Be whisked away on a thrilling circus escapade inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns salute to feathers, fur and fins.
