SWELL SCULPTURE FESTIVAL

Experience a wondrous display of over 50 sculptures built by local, national and international artists at the 13th annual Swell Sculpture Festival along Currumbin Beach 11 – 20 September, 2015. The free exhibition is open all hours with a selection of sculptures revealing a new verve as they are lit up under the southern sky. Over 10 days, visitors can experience the sculptures, enjoy twilight walks, informative artist talks, discover new perspectives, wander through the Swell Smalls Gallery and participate in artist master classes and children’s workshops.

Feeding time at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary took on a new meaning with the introduction of a Local and International Food & Craft Market, the Sanctuary Markets. The market operates on The Village Green’s new deck section of the Sanctuary and incorporates a wide variety of international foods such as Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Brazilian, Turkish, Venezuelan, South African and Chilean, craft stalls in the undercover area of the Green and a produce market selling Asian greens, fresh produce, eggs and Australian Seafood in the Sanctuary’s car park.

Saturday art classes for your budding artist! This week the kids will draw up a lobster in oil pastel and then for a watery background will sprinkle salt into watery paint to give it a cool mixed media effect. It is a large project and be warned – these lobsters are hanging on walls in frames because they are so cool! The cost for this class is $29 and bookings are essential as classes are extremely popular! Each week varies as to what art activity the kids will tackle.
