Back for its seventh year, Groundwater Country Music Festival is gearing up to be one of the best yet with a bumper line-up.

While the free festival is a must-attend for country music fans from all over the world, you don’t need to be up-to-date on the latest boot scootin’ tunes to have a blast at Groundwater.

Catch the reigning King and Queen of Australian country music Lee Kernaghan and Beccy Cole, as well as the big winners at the 2019 Golden Guitars, The Wolfe Brothers. Plus, you can also dance along to a number of other exciting performers on the star-studded line-up.

As Australia’s fastest growing music festival, it’s little surprise that Groundwater has recently been elevated to ‘major status’ by Tourism and Events Queensland – aa nod to its importance to the Queensland economy and ability to generate visitation to the Gold Coast.

Assistant Tourism Industry Development Minister Meaghan Scanlon said TEQ had upgraded the festival’s status after the 2018 edition generated more than $5 million for the state’s economy – a 25 per cent increase from 2017.

“Since the event’s inception in 2013, it’s grown from strength-to-strength. Last year more than 63,000 people attended the event, generating nearly 30,000 visitor nights for the Gold Coast,” she said.

Groundwater’s growth is reflected in the enormous increase in popularity the country music genre has seen in Australia over recent years – right now, it is at an all-time high. That means there’s never been a better year to slip on your boots and don your Akubra for a country hoedown like no other, at the 2019 Groundwater Country Music Festival.

Come along to Broadbeach for Groundwater while it’s on from July 26 thru to July 28, and be sure to explore the bars, restaurants, streets and parks of the bustling suburb while you’re there. Expect more than 110 incredible live music performances with over 130 hours of free live entertainment.
