We’re beyond excited to reveal an official sneak peek at the exciting program HOTA, Home of the Arts, will deliver in 2020 – and there’s no shortage of inspiring and fun events for families.
Here’s what you can expect…
Arriving direct from New York on 11 Jan is Air Play by Acrobuffos, a blend of circus and street art theatre. This circus-style adventure with flying umbrellas, larger-than-life balloons, and the biggest snow globe you’ve ever seen will leaving you gasping in wonder and laughing until it hurts.
LASER BEAK MAN
Exploding with the offbeat humour and wit of award-winning artist Tim Sharp, enter the hyper coloured world of Laser Beak Man from 16- 18 Jan – part puppet show, part pop concert, and all heart.
Bleach* The Gold Coast Festival are bringing Adelaide-based acrobatic troupe Gravity & Other Myths direct to HOTA on 2 & 3 April with Backbone, a stunning circus celebration that tests the limits of strength.
THE GRUFFALO’S CHILD
For those who loved The Gruffalo in 2019, you won’t want to miss the sequel – The Gruffalo’s Child, on 15 & 16 of May, with all the magic and mayhem from the books brought to life once again. Meanwhile, expect a visit from everyone’s favourite Burrawan tree-top, Grug, coming to the stage on 10 & 11 July.
FANTASTIC MR FOX
Packed with Dahlicious mischief is Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox, from 20-23 September – the stage adaptation from the wacky mind of the world’s No.1 Storyteller, by shake & stir theatre company.
And in a show that Gold Coasters are sure to love, Alison Lester’s modern Australian classic Magic Beach has also been adapted for the stage, celebrating the magic of surf and summer in an unforgettable performance on 13 & 14 November.
