How important is it to have joy, peace and happiness in our life? How important is it to have strategies to enable this to be in our life when we most need it?

Sometimes when we feel blue, down in the dumps, under the weather, sad, grieving or just need a lift, it can be a struggle to find the right tool or techniques to help us. When we do not have the ideas or tools to support ourselves to do this we can remain in the sad or low state. This doesn’t help anyone, most importantly ourselves and the ripple effect on those around us. Staying in this state for a prolonged period of time can cause many ongoing issues, around health, relationships career and more. We can find our whole health and wellbeing out of balance.


Sometimes, all we need is a really good laugh to shift the chemicals in our body. By changing our physiology and connecting to our heart we become lighter, brighter and empowered. Laughter creates endorphins which shake us up so to speak and we feel good, almost like shaking a bottle of fizzy drink. When we notice something we consider to be cute, beautiful, joyful, precious or attractive we automatically go to the positive. Our body and mind are healed by things we consider to be of ‘beauty’. When we feel a connection to the object, image or even sound, positive emotions are evoked, triggering the heart connection. Connecting with our heart will shift our state.


It’s important to know what we can do for ourselves when we feel we need a bit of uplifting.


Ideas for a quick uplift…

  • Have a book of uplifting photos, nature scenes, holiday snaps,
  • Put quotes around the house and focus on one when the time is needed,
  • Make a vision board and connect with this often,
  • Watch a short positive YouTube clip,
  • Listen to music,
  • Walk or play with a pet,
  • Get a hug from someone,
  • Allow daydreaming time with a cuppa tea,
  • Walk on the beach or in nature,
  • Lay in a hammock,
  • Play with our children,
  • Visit a friend,
  • Do something different.
