When we have healthy growth and development we operate at our best. For this to happen it is important for us to know who we are. What makes us tick and why do we do things the way we do them. It is our birthright to be our own person. Believing in ourself is vital to our life satisfaction.

Here is a little exercise as a check-in regarding the satisfaction level of our life right now.

Close your eyes, go forward in time in your imagination, yes, to the time when you will pass from this life. Take yourself and stand beside your coffin, or sit on top of it. You may be standing around with family and friends at your funeral. Now……take a deep breath and feel how you are feeling about the life you have had. Have you done all the things you wanted to do? Have you spent the time with those who you wanted to? Have you experienced all that you wanted? Now, as you think about all of these things in your life…….feel what it feels like, as you are now reflecting on your life. What does it feel like to have done them and lived your life to the fullest? Or, what does it feel like to know that you missed that opportunity, didnt say something to someone or spend the time with them that you intended to. Sit with this feeling for a moment. Breathe it in and reflect on it. Now…… allow yourself to come back into the now and open your eyes. How does it feel?

Is this how we want to leave our world, our life? It doesn’t matter if we are 79, 97 or 103, we will all pass when it is our time – however we can make a difference today about how we will feel when we do go. Today is the first day of the rest of our life and our growth and life are totally our responsibility. What is it that we can do today to make things better or different, giving us better outcomes and results. We may have had feelings of success, happiness, peace and achievement however we may also have had sadness, regret, peeved off, disappointment, angry, lonely or may more.

We can do something about this, firstly look at what is happening in our life today. In the foundation areas of our life we can assess ourselves, this is a great place to start. The areas to look at are Relationship with Family and Friends – how is our connection and communication with all the important people in our life. Career/Work – are we content, happy, thrilled, exhilarated by the work we do? If not what stops us from moving to another business or job? Are we living to work or are we working to live? Are our values being met with our chosen career, job, employer or business? Money and Finance – are we happy with this area of our life or is there something we can do to improve it? Home/Physical environment – can we make any small changes around this, upsize, down size, tidy up, change etc? Health and Wellbeing – are we being the best we can be or could we put some healthy changes in place. Could we make different choices? Is our exercise routine good enough, are our eating habits serving us, if we could put healthy changes in place what would they be?

Our Fun and Recreation area of life is vitally important as it impacts on everything. Are we having fun in our life, if not why not. What can we bring in to make it lighter and brighter? Could we involve other people or could we move away from some people. Could we do more with the children? What could we do more for ‘ourself’? Relationship with our Significant Other, how is our communication, is it the best that it can be? Is our communication giving us all that we want, is it open and honest? Are we being fully responsible for our half of the relationship? Are we being respectful of them? Do we spend the quality time to grow a relationship? The area of Personal Growth is significant to our self-esteem and confidence. Who is supporting us to be the best we can be? Are we attending any expos, seminars or workshops that support our own personal growth. What are we reading, watching or listening to what stretches and grows us?

We may ask, ‘If I wanted to, what could I do to change any of this?’ There are many ways to work on any area of our life we think might need a small or big change. Starting any change with decisive steps is a great place to begin making any change.

Number one priority is to know where we are going and what it is that we want. If we cannot articulate or visualise what it is we want, it is difficult to move forward.

What we want from life, is considered one of the most difficult questions. Once we answer this, it can be profound. Once articulated we look at what is stopping us. By looking a little deeper at the programs we are running and the scripts being used to keep us stuck. The words we use positively or negatively are the key. The way we feel is the other key. Once we get these right we step into our power, we take control of our bus of life and we move towards what we want. Imagine operating all the time from a place of being happy, content, feeling a sense of achievement and self-success, now fast forwarding into the future and attend our funeral – how different would it be doing the exercise again.

Designing our own Vision Board assists with the journey forward, once we are fully clear on what we want we create it. The vision board will constantly ignite the feeling of excitement, anticipation and joy with having this in our life. Vision boards are easy and simple to do and change our life. Vision Boarding is a great exercise to do with our children – they love it!

Are you stepping up and driving your bus of life?
