Boasting a 69 year heritage, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is an outdoor classroom showcasing hundreds of native Australian animals in natural bushland and rainforest settings; and is one of the Gold Coast’s most popular attractions for young families.

Research and conservation are at the forefront of everything they do at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and their new Kids on Conservation Trail, launching 6 August, has been crafted to be fun and at the same time educate children and parents on the variety of conservation projects and wildlife breeding programs undertaken by the teams at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Young guests will embark on an adventure which sees them follow footprints to 12 locations across the park.  At each location they’ll collect a stamp, learn about an endangered animal, or discover more about a conservation program, and continuing on the trail. One of the highlights of the tour will be having the opportunity to visit the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital and see the vets in action.  At the end of the trail they will receive a small gift to take home.

Senior Vet, Dr Michael Pyne, says that this new activity is a fabulous way to highlight the great work that we are doing here at the Sanctuary.

“The Wildlife Conservation Trail has been designed as a fun activity to educate children about some of Australia’s endangered wildlife, including; the Bilby, Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby, the Orange Bellied Parrot; and the Kroombit Tinker Frog.”

“Many people aren’t aware of how many recovery and breeding programs we have operating here at the Sanctuary and the Kids on Conservation Trail is a way for us to showcase the fabulous work that we are doing to save some of our beloved wildlife from becoming extinct,” said Dr Pyne.

Participants will also have the chance to share a photo of themselves along the trail with #KidsConservationTrail to go in the draw to win a 1 year family National Trust Australia membership for 2 Adults and up to 4 Children for unlimited entry into Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
