Congratulations – you’ve almost survived another school year! To celebrate, group up with the guys and hit one of these hotspots around town.

Visit your local

Looking for a laid-back, no-frills option for your next guys’ get-together? Keep it simple and hit your local surf club for a good feed, great catch-up and even better beer. We’re blessed with kilometres of pristine coastline here in south-east Queensland, so make the most of it and pick one of the many beachfront surf clubs for your end of year celebrations. You’ll be supporting your local surf club, too!

Golf get-together

We’re not talking about spending all day navigating the green – there’s plenty of golf-related fun to be had at some key party places around town. Take Holey Moley in Fortitude Valley and Surfers Paradise, for example. They serve up plenty of wacky, wonderful golfing fun with crazy courses and an awesome cocktail offering. Or, why not try Top Golf? Offering the perfect combination of golfing skill and friendly competition, Top Golf is particularly geared for groups (meaning you don’t really have to organise a thing).

Tour a brewery

From Newstead Brewing Co. and the Green Beacon in Brisbane to Stone and Wood at Byron Bay – and the likes of Balter, Lost Palms and Black Hops in between on the Gold Coast – there’s no shortage of breweries to check out on your dads’ day. We’re so spoilt for choice, in fact, that it can be hard to see them all in one go – leave all of the organising (and driving!) to Hop On Brewery Tours, so all you need to worry about is which craft beer you’ll bring home with you.

haven is all about family, life and style in Brisbane's inner city suburbs, the Gold Coast, south to Byron Bay. We have been keeping parents in the know for over eight years, with fun, fresh and helpful stories that they can take tips from or treasure in their own library.
