Don’t forget about some of the indoor activities on offer at your local library or community centre this school holidays.
Kids who read succeed but there’s more to our local libraries than reading books. These holidays it’s all about science, the activities promise to inspire, entertain and inform. Kids of all ages will find something that interests them, make some slime and lava, create a fossil, build a robotic hand or a kaleidoscope.
If older children are looking for inspiration, they can learn to code and create interactive stories, animations and games, for children aged eight to 12 years.
Follow a big morning at the beach with a relaxing crafternoon. Learn how to make Christmas cards, gift tags and the art of Japanese gift wrapping, or join in making 3D decorations using Helensvale Library’s 3D printer.
There’s also a number of fun activities designed especially for teenagers, including Creative Christmas for teens, Loud in the Library and Hype. So bring along a friend or come and make some new ones.
The Gold Coast’s dynamic community hubs are also home to hundreds of school holiday activities. With everything from sport to craft, cooking, skateboarding, movies and much more, there’s no excuse to be bored these school holidays.
But if you want to stay outside there’s still a lot on offer to help parents get kids back into nature and discover the true joy of outdoor activity with the Active and Healthy program of events.
The hardest part will be deciding what to do.
