Meet Cass – mum to Leila (13), Lexington (11) and Joshua (8), wife to Graham, and managing director and co-founder of Twisted Healthy Treats. No big deal?! We chat to Cass about business ownership, family life and what she does when she finds a rare moment to herself.
Tell us about your business or current role – where did the concept come from, and what’s your business background?
I am the co-founder and managing director of Twisted Healthy Treats. A company that I started back in 2009.
I studied a Bachelor of Science majoring in Food Technology, before traveling to London where I spent 13 years in the Financial Services industry finishing my career on a high as a Global Project Manager, rolling out large scale technology projects across the globe with teams in London, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong and Sydney. Upon returning to Australia with a young family, I fulfilled my dreams of starting my own business and Twisted was born (otherwise known as my fourth child…). Together with my amazing team, I have built an authentic Australian brand that is well on its way to becoming Australia’s best (and favourite!) healthy treat manufacturer.
What time does a typical day start for you, and what does your morning look like?
I wake up at 5:30 every morning and by 6:00 I am on my Peloton spin bike for 45 minutes. Then I wake up my youngest, Joshua and get his breakfast ready and send the kids off to school. As we have expanded globally, my mornings are focused around communication with the international and US side of the business.
If you have 10 minutes to yourself, where do you go and what do you like to do?
If I have a rare 10 minutes by myself, I take time out to relax on my bed with our dog Archie and do an instagram scroll for inspiration – business and personal.
What do you do for childcare? If they’re older, do they do any extracurricular activities?
I have a nanny for the kids. My eldest Leila does dancing and the boys do seasonal sports like soccer and cricket.
What do you do for fun as a family?
We spend time walking the dog together and going for bike rides. We also spend quality time throughout the year at our holiday home on the south coast.
What is your favourite thing to do for date night, or to eat out with your kids?
We love going down to our local pub with the whole family.
Where do you head when you need a girls’ night out?
A local restaurant!
What’s your must-know fashion or beauty tip for mums?
Something that I have been loving is Ultra Violette’s SPF 50 Sunscreen drops! This product is amazing and it has now become a staple in my morning skin care routine.
What’s your favourite place to shop?
Must-have parenting tip or tool?
