The Gold Coast is definitely not lacking in family entertainment options but if you’re looking for that kids’ birthday party with a difference, look no further than Dracula’s.
There’s no doubt that Dracula’s is an iconic Gold Coast venue for an adults’ night out, but when we heard they’d designed a show for kids, we couldn’t wait to get in the door! We arrived about 15 minutes prior to the start of our show and, to our surprise, the theme was already staged. We were greeted by a cheeky ‘puppy’ and two other characters at the gate, who were entertaining the growing line of guests. Not only was the puppy getting the crowd prepared for what was to come, but his giant water pistol definitely got the crowd laughing – and wet!
Our visit was a special afternoon out with my two girls and their nan, but in our session, there were other locals, families on holiday and several birthday parties as well.
It’s been a while since I have had the opportunity to enjoy Dracula’s but the ghost train was as I remembered with lots of twists and turns and spooky surprises around every corner. My kids were a bit unsure about what to expect at the start, but every single child left their cart with a huge smile on their face and plenty to talk about.
Dracula’s definitely had their priorities right with hot party food already laid out on the table for the kids as we were ushered to our seats. The adult nibblies arrived shortly after and consisted of garlic prawns, party pies and spring rolls – vegetarian dishes were available upon request. We enjoyed indulging while the characters interacted with the kids on the stage and around the tables – and then it was time for the show to begin.
It was a mix of song, dance, magic and plenty of interactive games. The birthday kids were given all the attention they deserved and we didn’t feel like we missed out either, which was great. As I remembered with the adult version, a highlight of the afternoon was seeing everyone’s reactions on the ghost train as they were played on the big screen! All great parties are not complete without a disco and each child was invited to go on stage to shake it with ‘Popsicle’ and the other characters. At the end of the show, everyone got to meet their favourite character and get a few photos and autographs. It was an adventure like no other with the fast-moving entertainment leaving a lasting impression on my kids. Thanks, Drax 4 Kids – we will be back!
