The students of Coomera Anglican College are preparing to take centre stage, bringing a taste of Broadway to the Gold Coast with their upcoming production of their eleventh College musical, Oliver.
From Thursday May 9 thru to Saturday May 11, prepare to be dazzled by the enthusiastic cast of budding actors and actresses, whose talented performance will be complimented by the College’s own orchestra and breathe new life into the famed classic.
With four performances held over three massive days at the College’s Ivan Gibbs Centre, students, school staff, parents and local community members are sure to be wowed by the Secondary Campus cast time and time again.
The classic Charles Dickens novel will be transformed before your very eyes, with audiences being taken on a wild adventure through Victorian England when young orphan Oliver Twist navigates London’s underbelly on the hunt for a home, a family and love.
Under the watchful eye of talented director Mrs Kristy Terry, the cast and staff have been working on the production since late last year – and are excited to finally show off what they’ve been creating and leave audiences in awe.
“Coomera Anglican College’s 2019 production of Oliver will certainly impress and the calibre of our performers, singers and orchestra is outstanding,” says Kristy. “These committed young men and women from Years 7-12 continue to inspire us all with their passion, talent, dedication and enthusiasm and have been working tirelessly to hone their skills and perfect their craft.”
The entire College community is welcome to enjoy the fabulous production, but should prepare to be transported back in time with the beautiful set and costumes, and an energetic performance complete with toe-tapping tunes, beautiful ballads, cheeky humour and dramatic tension. It’s a show the whole family will enjoy.
“I am sure the Musical staff will agree with me when I say that we feel privileged to share this exciting and momentous experience with such delightful students,” says Kristy.
‘Food Glorious Food’ will be catered by the College’s year 10 Hospitality students before the Thursday afternoon session, and there will also be an array of food trucks and a licensed bar available at the Friday and Saturday performances.
