It’s just not a family day out without your fur baby in tow. Take your pooch to one of these pet-friendly places this weekend!
Saltwater fenced dog park
A fenced dog park with its very own beach, Saltwater is beloved by locals to Helensvale, Hope Island and Paradise Point. It offers plenty of space to run around, including access to a fenced portion of the creek, plus shady trees for dogs (and their humans) who want to relax out of the sun.
The Spit dog beach
Perhaps the most popular dog hang-out on the Gold Coast, regular visitors to the Spit’s dog off-leash area say it attracts a very friendly crowd. While the water here is known to be choppy – ideal for boardriders – the expansive beach offers plenty of entertainment for dogs and humans alike. Pack a picnic and stay until sunset for the perfect end to a weekend.
Musgrave Avenue dog park
Located on the corner of Musgrave Avenue and Kumbari Avenue in Southport, the dog agility park at Musgrave Park is the perfect place to spend a blissful weekend with your pooch. It too has a small creek for your pup to cool off in, plus a barbeque and toilet facilities so that you can extend your stay. It’s the biggest dog park on the Gold Coast, so your pooch won’t ever get bored.
Pizzey fenced dog agility park
Oh, Pizzey Park – what doesn’t it have to offer?! Along with a killer skate park, tennis courts, a swimming pool, footy fields and a large lake, it also offers both fenced and off-leash dog spaces for you and your pup. Take them down here for a run around, a cooling swim and a bit of dog-on-dog interaction, and they’ll be the happiest pooch around.
Tallebudgera off-leash dog beach
Our fifth and final dog spot has to be beautiful Tallebudgera. Where else can you swim in calm, aqua water, surf a world-class break and let your dog burn off steam, all within a radius of a few hundred metres? Grab a coffee from one of the nearby cafes or kiosks and watch your dog have the time of their life playing with four-legged friends. Perfect.

FYI: Has all this dog talk got you wishing you had a four-legged friend of your very own? This month – all March long – is National Pet Adoption Month! Formerly known as National Pet Adoption Day, this PETstock Assist’s initiative inspires Australians to rescue their new family member. Having seen an unprecedented rate of adoption in 2020, the initiative also focuses on education and training tips for owners, to help them build the best possible relationship with their four-legged (or two-legged… or no-legged) friend.
