We all know that swimming is a life skill and should be taught to all children. But did you know winter is an especially important time for children to learn to swim?
Consistent and continual lessons give your children the best chance to grow their skills. Taking a break over winter can hinder progress as it may take children a while to re-establish their routines and technique. This is particularly so for kids under seven years old.
By continuing swimming lessons in the winter, children will maintain and improve water confidence, awareness and safety in preparation for summer.
Not to mention, swimming is a full body workout, and a fun one too! Consistent lessons improve coordination, balance, posture and strength while building children’s immune systems to help fight those winter viruses.
Winter swim lesson tips
- Wrap your children up warmly before and after a swim lesson in an extra fluffy towel
- After the lesson, immediately give your child a warm shower, dry them well and put them back in their winter clothes
- While the indoor pool is heated and the centre is set at a comfortable summer temperature, a thick and high-quality swim suit will help maintain warmth
Aqualogan’s heated indoor pool and centre is the perfect place to maintain your children’s swimming skills, confidence and health over the winter in a safe and fun environment!
