Christmas is less than six weeks away. (Sorry!) But don’t panic; take the stress out of shopping for the silly season with our gift-getting guide to hitting the shops like a ninja. More bang for buck. Less stress.  Roll on Santa…

If you haven’t even thought about the gift avalanche heading your way yet, don’t worry. There’s still plenty of time, if you plan your attack like a military exercise.

Our top tips?

Don’t junk the junk mail – easier than trawling through every shop and more relaxing than spending your nights mindlessly filling a cart on your laptop in bed. Make the most of the Christmas catalogues filling your letterbox – check out what’s hot, what’s new, what’s on sale (and maybe circle a few things for yourself and leave the catalogues casually lying in high-traffic areas “accidentally” open to the relevant page…).

Ditch the kids – you know that saying, ‘never work with animals or children’? The same applies for shopping. Not only will your attack mission be derailed with every new toy / lolly / device your child sees, you don’t want to run the risk of ruining any Santa surprises with astute little eyes watching your every purchase. Make use of the child-minding facilities offered at major shopping centres such as Harbour Town and if you absolutely need to take the kids, suss out the Parents Rooms at Pacific Fair and Robina Town Centre to make your trip more comfortable.

Be a card shark – wandering aimlessly trying to find the ‘perfect’ gift for the teacher, your neighbour or your fussy mother-in-law? Don’t shy away from gift cards. You can make a clean sweep with retailer-specific or centre-wide gift vouchers, the recipient gets to choose something they really love, and you save yourself the uncertainty of spending your hard-earned cash on a dud gift. Win: win.

Where to:
