“Behind every great woman is a tribe of other successful women who have her back.”
Whoever wrote this is on the money and what better day to applaud the achievements of our friends, sisters and daughters than International Women’s Day this Thursday 8 March!
It a day where we are encouraged to take a moment and celebrate women and the progress in gender equality all around the world.
To mark the occasion is a new book ‘Shout Out to the Girls’ which shines a spotlight on fifty amazing Australian women and their incredible achievements. From sports stars, to movie stars and everyone in between. It’s a book that champions Australian women across all walks of life.
“It’s a lovely book” says haven publisher Keeley O’Connor on the stunning tribute which belongs on every bookshelf to inspire any young women while chasing her dreams.
The book praises the likes of Elizabeth Blackburn, a Nobel Prize-winning molecular biologist and Aheda Zanetti, the designer of the burkini which gave many girls and women access to sports and experiences they would have otherwise avoided for religious or health concerns.
Rachel Perkins also appears among the pages as the youngest female executive producer at SBS and a co-founder of NITV.
Talk about female inspiration!
Royalties from every copy sold will go to The Smith Family charity helping to create opportunities for disadvantaged children and their families across Australia through educational and financial support in hope to encourage them to participate more fully in society.
