I like to think of myself as a creative person who loves planning a party however when little Miss 7 said she wanted to have a disco, sleepover party for her birthday I must admit I was a little stumped!
Thinking about all the bedding setup and sheet washing that would need to be done I immediately put it in the ‘too hard’ basket!
A quick flick through the party issue of haven magazine for inspiration lead me to googling www.sleepoversrus.com.au and to my delight the rest was very straight forward!!
All I needed to do was choose a theme and they could deliver, set up and then come back the next day to pack up. No making beds or washing linen it’s all done for you. Melanie, owner of Sleepovers R US, is a lady who dots all her i’s and crosses all her t’s and once booked everything evolved very smoothly!
The party day arrived and I let Mel in the door to set up as I dashed out to work. My only instructions were don’t let the dog in and close the door when you leave! With a small lounge room I wasn’t sure how she was going to make it work but it looked amazing.
When Miss 7 arrived home from school that day the reaction was very special – I knew we had made the right decision. She was so happy and as the little girls arrived we got to re-live the excitement over and over again. And as the sun went down, and the fairy lights started to twinkle the girls couldn’t wait to climb into their teepee’s and watch a movie – easy!
The normally arduous task of getting kids to brush their teeth was easy with the complimentary toothbrush kits! They were a hit amongst the girls and much needed after all the party food.
My Miss 11 has insisted that she wants to book the teepee’s for her next birthday and has been on-line and checked out the new ‘Sugar & Spice’ themed tents, however with her birthday not till next year she is pushing for an ‘end of primary school’ sleepover to celebrate friendship… any excuse for a party!
I loved the options to add some arts and crafts and party games and I felt super proud when I heard Miss 7 telling her grandparents weeks later that it was the best party ever….
Thanks Mel… I have one very happy birthday girl.
