Bleach* hits the Coast next weekend and one of the Festival highlights will be Marlin, performed as part of Bleach Jnr* – a specially curated selection of performances just for kids.
Staged at The Arts Centre Gold Coast, Marlin is an adventurous tale set in the game fishing regions of North Queensland, and performed in a sea of foam. With the catch phrase, “Be careful what you fish for”, Marlin tells the story of Billy Grogan who now lives with her grandad after her dad went fishing for a marlin two years ago and never came back. Billy dreams of the ocean and adventure to escape her dreary life . . . until one dark and strange night, when a miraculous marlin takes Billy and her granddad out past the reef, to the deep reaches of the ocean. But will either of them find their way back home?
Ideal for kids aged 9 years and up (and their grandparents!) Marlin is an exciting introduction to the performing arts for junior culture vultures – what kid doesn’t love bubbles and adventure?
When: Friday March 20, 10.15am and Saturday March 21, 10.30am & 1.30pm
Tickets: $19.50 at The Arts Centre Gold Coast
