One of the most formidable – and often feared – creatures in Australia is taking over the Queensland Museum!
From Saturday December 6, explore the fascinating world of spiders, discovering everything there is to know about these impressive creatures while coming face-to-face with 12 live spider species and 200 spider specimens – including the infamous Sydney Funnel Web, Trapdoor, Huntsman, Redback, and Tarantula spiders.
In this rare opportunity, you’ll see creatures of the crawling kind up close from the comfort of the exhibition floor.
Become arachnologists for the day when you visit the dedicated children’s area, or check out the jam-packed program of daily sessions including spider feeding and chats with the museum’s spider zookeepers.
Weave your way through interactive activities, from a dance-off with a Peacock Spider to creating your own spider web and giant spider. Plus, you can learn all about the incredible research conducted by scientists at the Queensland Museum.
Dig a little deeper and quench your thirst for all things arachnid, and maybe even be the one to name a spider species?! The recently discovered species of Eastern Wishbone Spider needs a name, and the museum is giving you the opportunity to nominate yourself or someone you know!
With so much to see and do, this exhibition is without a doubt the creepiest, crawliest things for families to do in Brisbane.
