Spring has officially sprung, and Brisbane’s Roma Street Parkland and South Bank are the places to be to welcome in the warm weather. There’s so much to see and do…

Explore Roma Street Parkland
Within Brisbane’s buzzing CBD lies a spectacular oasis – a horticultural heart that beats year-round, but truly blossoms in springtime. Experience 16 hectares of picturesque parkland, lush grounds in a technicolour tapestry of flowers and foliage and sprawling lawns – a favourite lunch spot for office workers indulging in the ultimate alfresco dining destination. Over one thousand trees filter the force of the Queensland sun, providing a cooling canopy for visitors exploring the parkland’s 28 precincts. The Spectacle Garden is a kaleidoscopic canvas of colour, while the Fern Gully and Rainforest provide pockets of cool and calm amid the bustle of the city. There are picnic patches and public barbecues, as well as an accessible network of pathways and boardwalks linking the parkland. Come for a stroll, or join the free, twice-daily guided tours.

Free guided tours & trackless train rides
One of Roma Street Parkland’s greatest assets is its team of knowledgeable and personable volunteers who host free one-hour guided walks at 11 am and 1 pm daily. Stop to smell the flowers, spot one of the parkland’s 450 Eastern Water Dragons, taste bush tucker and hear behind-the-scenes titbits during this gentle and informed stroll. No two tours are exactly alike, with each guide eager to tread their own path, visit their favourite spots and share their hidden treasures. Or, hop on the Roma Street Parkland Explorer, a trackless train that provides an alternative to guided walks. Ride Wednesday to Friday from 10 am ‘til 12.30pm and weekends from 10 am ‘til 3 pm for one gold coin donation per person.
