Feeling like you need a bit of TLC after the winter months? These health checks are the perfect way to spring tune your body.

Skin check

Australia has incredibly high rates of skin cancer, so it’s super important to stay on top of your regular skin checks. Head to the dermatologist at least once a year and, between appointments, be mindful of spots or moles that could have changed. Take particular care to check your scalp and other hard-to-see spots.

Dental check

Regular trips to the dentist are the best way to stay on top of any developing issues. Decay and cavities can lead to pain, distraction and worsening teeth issues. Protect your family’s teeth further by focusing on healthy meals and having plain water for drinking instead of energy drinks or juices.

Eye check

So much of your day-to-day comfort is dependent on good eyesight – it can cause headaches, stop you driving at night and make fun activities like going to the movies a pain. Getting an eye check could put all of those troubles to rest.

Hearing check

Hearing problems can result from a variety of circumstances: genetic causes, childhood illnesses, recent or recurrent middle ear infections or prolonged exposure to loud noises. It is a good idea to book your children in for a hearing check prior to the start of kindergarten and prep, and see your GP for an assessment if you have concerns at any other point.

Vaccinations

Now is a great opportunity to check that your child is up to date with their vaccines and has the best protection against preventable diseases. Don’t forget that there are additional vaccinations that are not on the National Immunisation Program such as Influenza and Meningococcal B vaccines that you can talk to your GP about to see if they are appropriate for your child.
