Australia has incredibly high rates of skin cancer, so it’s super important to stay on top of your regular skin checks. Head to the dermatologist at least once a year and, between appointments, be mindful of spots or moles that could have changed. Take particular care to check your scalp and other hard-to-see spots.
Regular trips to the dentist are the best way to stay on top of any developing issues. Decay and cavities can lead to pain, distraction and worsening teeth issues. Protect your family’s teeth further by focusing on healthy meals and having plain water for drinking instead of energy drinks or juices.
So much of your day-to-day comfort is dependent on good eyesight – it can cause headaches, stop you driving at night and make fun activities like going to the movies a pain. Getting an eye check could put all of those troubles to rest.
Hearing problems can result from a variety of circumstances: genetic causes, childhood illnesses, recent or recurrent middle ear infections or prolonged exposure to loud noises. It is a good idea to book your children in for a hearing check prior to the start of kindergarten and prep, and see your GP for an assessment if you have concerns at any other point.
