Ekka is coming next week – are you ready? Queensland’s largest event combines over 400 retailers, 400,000 visitors, more than 330 showbags, 10,000 animals and more than 100 rides and games. It’s showtime!

Brisbane celebrates the 138th Ekka this year, with ten days of action-packed fun spreading over two weekends, so whether you’re a Brissie local or making a daytrip from the Coast, you’ll have heaps of opportunity to explore.

This year’s Ekka provides great value for families, with non-stop free entertainment around the showgrounds – in fact, more than 70 per cent of Ekka is dedicated to FREE entertainment. Family value packs for entry and rides are also available, saving up to 30 per cent for a family of four.

Got a dino-mad mini-palaeontologist in your fam? Check out Dinosaur Adventures, a first-time Ekka attraction where families can explore a prehistoric world full of moving dinosaurs that come alive before your eyes – and participate in a fossil dig! This interactive experience includes your own scientist jacket, scientist glasses, and chance to explore like a real palaeontologist.

ekka2013_rides_highres_009The world-class night show is an attraction in itself – EkkaNITES is the only show of its kind in Australia, incorporating traditional crowd favourites such as woodchop and sheepdogs, plus the X-treme Action Show – featuring The Transformers, music from James Blundell and the explosive fireworks finale.

Ekka opens next Friday, 7 August and runs daily until Sunday 16 August. Plan your day at www.ekka.com.au – full details of tickets, getting there, showbags, events and entertainment are available online, along with blog posts, a social hub and more.

And Gold Coasters, prepare for some local show action next month, as the Gold Coast Show comes to town 28-30 August.
