We’re sure you have it marked out on the calendar, but in case you didn’t already know Monday will be a student free day. Wait? Weren’t the kids just on holidays?

While they were just on holidays, there’s nothing you can do about the kids having another day off of school. To help you plan ahead here are a few ideas that will help you keep the kids occupied whether you’re in Brisbane, the Gold Coast or just want to stay at home.

Things to do in Brisbane…
If you’re in Brisbane and looking for things to do on Monday we recommend heading to the Cultural precinct to visit Queensland Art Gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Museum or the Science Centre.

On your way to and from the gallery or museum, you have to take a ride down the Brisbane River on the iconic CityCats.

Things to do on the Gold Coast…
Forget the sun, surf and sand – the beaches will probably be packed! There’s plenty of stuff to do on the coast that will help you steer clear of the overcrowded beaches.

One of our top suggestions would be to head south to Brunswick Heads and visit the ‘airy fairy BnB’’. If you’re looking for an adventure that isn’t as far you could drive north to Tamborine Mountain to walk through the rainforest.

If you don’t want to leave the house…
If you don’t feel like leaving the house there are plenty of things you can do at home. Chilling out and reading is one of the best ways to spend the day off or you could have a movie marathon of your kids’ favourite movies (don’t forget the popcorn).
