This is my dream (and I’m close!) to have a home that is filled with quality pieces that are handcrafted with love and care. Styling our homes in this way creates a space that exudes character, originality and love. A truly feel good space.
It could be a beautiful mix of old and new, local and international, and pieces made by ourselves and others. We are blessed with access to every corner of the globe via the Internet and therefore we can enjoy artisans both near and far. If we seek, we shall find that there are amazing creatives in our neighbourhoods too.
FURNITURE – NEW AND OLD
More and more furniture designers and makers are popping up and it’s such a delight to see. Search for quality craftsmanship and innovative design. As this is a large investment, I would advise you choose pieces that are versatile and simple in style and design, to ensure they will last and will provide a neutral foundation as your styling mood changes.

Be brave with a bit of DIY, and adventure to your local op shops and tip shops. Search for furniture pieces with gorgeous detailing, attractive lines and great potential. It’s amazing what a lick of paint and some ceramic knobs can do.
LOCAL LOVE
A wonderful place to begin discovering the amazing creatives in your area and pick up some unique handmade homewares is the local market. You will find homewares from cushions, throws, rugs and linen to ceramics and wall hangings, beautifully displayed and sold by the makers themselves. Also, discover stores in your area that support local artisans.

CRAFT IT YOURSELF
Another way to add quality handmade (with loads of love) pieces in your home is to learn a craft and create a piece yourself. Look out for craft workshops in your area or DIY kits for creations you can accomplish at home.

GO GLOBAL
Once you’ve exhausted your local community if there’s anything you’ve got your heart set on and you can’t find, try the diverse online market for all things handcrafted // www.etsy.com
BOTANICAL STYLE
Complete your styling with fresh flowers and greenery. One of my favourite places to shop is my local florist, they are artists crafting and designing with nature, what a beautiful combination! Plus, flowers make me happy, it’s as simple as that. Spread some blooming love all through your house and notice how you feel.
