QPAC will be the place for kids this holiday season with their SummerSet program looking like a true feast of family fun.

When the excitement of Christmas winds down and school holiday boredom starts to set in, QPAC has got families covered with their amazing SummerSet program. Among the high quality, educational and downright fun activities on offer, haven’s picks of the bunch include The Tiger Who Came To Tea and Carnival of the Animals.

TigerBased on one of the best-selling children’s picture books of all time, Judith Kerr’s The Tiger Who Came To Tea is a fab musical play during SummerSet. When book characters Sophie and her mummy welcome the hungry tiger to tea, he proceeds to eat all the sandwiches, buns, biscuits and more. And even manages to drink all the water in the tap! What will Sophie’s daddy say when he gets home? The Tiger Who Came To Tea has played a special role in the imaginations of children around the world since it was first published in 1968 and during SummerSet, the show will be the perfect slice of teatime mayhem with sing-a-long songs, oodles of magic and interactive fun. It’s perfect for children aged 2+ and their families and will show at the Playhouse from January 14-17.

After its popular premier season at QPAC’s 2014 Out of the Box festival, Carnival of the Animals has toured the globe receiving critical acclaim and thrilling audiences from France and Chile to Colombia and New Zealand. Now, this captivating production comes back to Brisbane to delight local families through an educational and fun theatre experience. A production by Brisbane-based company Circa, Carnival of the Animals celebrates the zoological diversity of planet Earth. The show features whimsical tales of creatures of land and sea who tumble, fly, leap and spin their way through the many wondrous worlds of the animal kingdom. The zebras juggle and flip, the kangaroos skip and somersault and even the dinosaur bones shake, clatter and roll to the music! It’s on at the Playhouse from January 9-13.
