Are your spidey senses tingling? If not, they should be!

Your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man will weave a web of superhero magic over the Gold Coast next weekend, Friday April 12 to Sunday April 14, when the Gold Coast Superhero Weekend comes to town.

Superheros new and old – we’re talking, like, 1930s old – will come together for this once-in-a-year event, giving fans the chance to meet their favourite heroes and the renowned Australian actors that have captivated them for decades.

The streets of Broadbeach will be overrun with beloved television, film and book characters, and the magic and wonder in the air will be absolutely palpable.

Set your alarm early on Sunday morning and grab a prime position for Australia’s only Supanova Superhero Parade which will, this year, be led by legendary Aussie actors Steve Bisley and Hugh Keays-Byrne in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Mad Max. They will parade alongside one of the movie’s most loved cars, The Interceptor, as well as Spiderman, the Ghostbusters, 501st Legion, Hot Wheels Race Cars, Jurassic Park, hundreds of cosplayers and even some home-grown superheroes including Betty Get Better from the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation, which is the official charity partner for Gold Coast Superhero Weekend.

And make sure you head along to the Supanova Superhero Parade afterparty from 10am ‘til 1pm, as well as the photo opportunities with some of the Parade superstars and iconic cars at Victoria Park and Surf Parade.

It’s all part of one massive weekend that celebrates the increasing superhero phenomena which has been influenced by the Supanova Comic Con & Gaming Expo (which is taking place at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday April 13 and Sunday April 14 from 10am ‘til 6pm each day). With stars from the television favourites Mad Max, Deadpool, Teen Wolf and dozens more set to walk the floor at the convention, make sure you grab your tickets before they sell out.

Plus, to foster the city’s cultural collaborative ties, the Gold Coast Film Festival will present Movies in the Mall as part of this epic weekend – on Friday night, sit back in bean bags and watch Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, whilst Saturday night features Angry Birds at 6pm followed by Scott Pilgrim vs The World at 8pm.

You can also play some classic Nintendo Switch games in Broadbeach Mall on Saturday April 13, and challenge your friends and family to some crazy antics with Super Mario Party, get hands on with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and serve up some super shots in Mario Tennis Aces.

If this still isn’t enough, Gold Coast Libraries are turning into Superhero powerhouses with daily jam-packed activities for the little superhero in all of you between Tuesday April 9 and Sunday April 13.
